Heavenly Hummus Recipe

First things first. To truly enjoy hummus, you have to pronounce it properly. There is nothing worse than slaughtering a dish's name right before you inhale it. It's actually blasphemous. Say it with me... ho-mos. If you say the word hum when pronouncing this delectable spread, side dish, meal, or what have-you, then you are officially not allowed to eat it. You will be banned and your image will be placed on the NO Hummus list. Yes, there actually is one.

So, now that you have figured out the correct way to articulate this versatile dish, let's get to the recipe. It has only a few simple ingredients, and this adaptable dish should and will be a staple in your home.

INGREDIENTS:

1 28 oz can of Chick Peas

1/4 cup of Tahineh (Sesame Paste)

1 (or a bit more depending on your taste) Lemon Squeezed

2-3 Garlic Cloves (again, you can use more if you like it garlic-y)

5 ice cubes

Salt to taste

Paprika and olive oil for garnish

Pita bread for dipping

First and Only Step: Place ingredients in the food processor

Place chick peas, lemon juice, garlic, tahineh and salt in the food processor. Pulse for a few seconds to combine. You will start to notice that the mixture has a thick texture. Leave processor running (on a higher setting) and add ice cubes one at a time. Take time to allow to blend well before adding next ice cube. Puree until smooth.

Mouth watering ingredients. Simple and delicious.

Place all ingredients in the food processor. Yes, that is one gorgeous hand.

*You may not need to add all 5 ice cubes, or you may realize you want to add another one or 2. Remember that the hummus gets a little thicker once all of the liquid is absorbed, so be sure to incorporate the ice cubes a bit at a time until you reach your desired creamy consistency. If reserving in the fridge for later, you can whisk it with a bit of water to freshen it up.*

Garnish with paprika and drizzle with olive oil. Good luck saving some until the next day. YUM!
